About me

Welcome to my blog.

My name is Maritza Martinez. It’s nice to meet you!

A little bit about me… I grew up in Caracas, Venezuela. I went to school and graduated as a Computer Engineer from UCAB (Universidad Catolica Andres Bello) and got my first job while I was still in school. I came to the US in 2001 and started working in Corporate America.

I moved to New York in 2004, where I attended NYU’s Stern School of Buisness. I got my MBA and I fell in love with… well, New York City. My work brought me to Seattle in 2017, and I live here now with my husband and my son, Benjamin.

I am an engineer at heart, with a love for Finance. In my 20+ years working in the US, I have been a part of a handful of Fortune 500 companies.

I have been fortunate enough to have great bosses and mentors in my career. I was also lucky to have some pretty terrible managers to benchmark against. Pretty early on, I decided that, when the time came, I would be a good/great boss, and try my best not to be a terrible one.

Managing people is a privilege that comes with great responsibility. Your boss has the power to ruin your evening, or make you feel confident, proud and worthy.

My goal is to leave you with articles, tips, tricks and thoughts that allow you to be the best version of yourself, at home and at work.
